I really like having the birdfeeder outside my office window. Just a small plastic tube feeder. I get finches, sparrow, chickadees, and goldfinches munching away. An occasional cardinal, and doves underneath to catch the leavings. It's a cheap form of entertainment. I wonder if they will stay there throughout the winter. I wonder if I will keep up the birdseed through the winter. Right now it takes them about a day and a half to go through a tube of food. I've abandoned the feeder at home, when I used the really long tube I would often see birds from the kitchen window in the morning, but something chewed through that tube, and eventually replaced it with the smaller one, which runs out before I've had a chance to see a bird. And the squirrels are a lot worse at home than at work. I might try the vaseline-on-the-hanger trick one of these days. Especially at the end of the day a flock of sparrows comes and fights over who gets to sit at the feeder. I counted up to nine one afternoon.
